evenings in the city

img-set-6.jpg
Last night I went out and found myself again so close to the city.
He was wearing black, with pockets full of mystery.
Wanderlust was sparkling in my hair, to match the beige boots.

// Winter Odyssey //

winterodyssey.jpg

There is something about this winter that makes me want to wrap around in black lace and dark flowers.
I enjoy the serenity of total black and the way it looks over dusty shades of purple. The splash of floral prints growing over an intense background makes it lirical. Fleur du Mal.

Styling Renaissance // My Choice

img-set-3.jpg

Since all week we’ve talked about this ongoing trend, I couldn’t help myself but be seduced by it and go with the flow.

The result? My personal styling choice, involving this Carolina Herrera embroidered dress, coupled with some whimsical touches here and there. And, of course, a bit of nature, only this time in the shape of beautiful and poisonous Belladonna flowers, applied directly on the front of this lovely hand-made clutch I found on Etsy.com.

Renaissance All Over Again

renaissance trend.jpg

renaissance mood.jpg

Whatever your style options, don’t miss your chance to try on this season something of medieval inspiration, you might start to love it.

Bell sleeves, corsets, big ruffled collars and long dresses, mixed with royal materials, like velvet, jacquard or brocade, are the keys to look for in creating a modern Renaissance inspired outfit.

Choose a medieval jacket and pair with jeans and boots, for adding only a twist to your casual look, or go all the way matching a long dress with a multi layered necklace and a cape, for the most authentic feeling.
Anywhere in between, you’ll find plenty of space for inspiration and experiment.

Something old, something new…

Velvet.jpg

Here is something to try this season –  a touch of velvet will uplift your look and add a twist to your outfit.

Bear in mind that there are many types of material available, but not all are made of natural fibers. And this is really not a detail to be ignored if you plan to invest in something that both looks and feels good.

Velvet has been around for some time, so the element of now stands for shape and style. How about a velvet suit, as seen at 3.1 Phillip Lim or a pijama inspired outfit like in the Alberta Ferretti show? A classical long dress will also do, but be sure to pair with some edgy high platform boots and a square hand-bag, to bring it in the present.

Shoes for Fall 2016 – Chapter I

mid heel.jpg

Easy to wear and easy to style, with a certain retro-chic charm, the mid-heel shoes are still on, after a few seasons of high popularity.

For this fall in particular, think opulence and sparkles when it comes to shoes.

Leather with metallic shine, as seen at Tommy Hilfiger and Erdem, soft velvet as proposed by DKNY, feathers and embellishments that came straight out of the Wonderland, at Gucci and Dolce&Gabbana.

This season, choose shoes and boots that tell a story and leave the dull, mundane world behind. Than pair them with culotte pants or midi skirts and dresses, a neutral tee and a crop double breasted jacket and go kick-ass. In style.

Spring Summer ’16 // Trends // The Culottes

culottes.jpg

Stay loose and laid back this summer when choosing your outfits. Invite in the new pieces that are making such a big come back (all the way from the ’90) – the culottes pants.

If you ever wanted to experience both de feminine feeling of wearing a skirt while still being comfortable enough when sitting and lazying around in the bean bags of your garden, remember the culotte pants were invented.

Get a pair yourself and experiment with it, as the combinations are basically endless. From sneakers and T’s for a basic casual, to lace tops, wedges and everything in between, it won’t be hard to find a match for your culottes.

Their biggest advantage is that they expose just as needed, showing off your beautiful shoes and fit ankles, while giving you the comfort to enjoy a fashionable super-relaxed look.
